Luigi Malones

Luigi Malones is located on the corner of Temple Bar Square, at the very heart of the action. We are directly behind the Central Bank on Cecilia Street. The restaurant is one of the busiest in Ireland and has the reputation as one of the "friendliest" places to visit in Temple Bar.

Part of the historic Dublin City Wall is displayed within the restaurant. This wall, which incorporated part of a friary dating to 1260, was discovered as part of the archeological dig which took place during the preparation works for the foundations of the restaurant. It is a matter of historical record that at least two murders were committed during 1379 within the precincts of the Friary. Also unearthed was a ceramic tile (nicknamed the - Devil's tile) depicting 'The Lion Rampant' - it is believed to be the oldest tile ever found in Ireland. And speaking of the devil, make sure you have a look at the very rare print as you descend the staircase.

Customers come to Luigi Malones to savour the atmosphere, the buzz, and it's very special cosmopolitan, electric mix and match that is a uniquely Temple Bar recipe. When it comes to mixes, who is better than Luigi Malones to add to that flavour.

Kavanaghs (Grave Diggers)

This 19th-century pub is next door to one of the entrances to Glasnevin Cemetery, hence its great name. The pub has assumed almost legendary status, and is frequently referenced in literature, cinema and a whole host of TV commercials, but its generally sedate atmosphere probably won't appeal to the thrillseeker. It's a marvellous place for drinks and good conversation, though, so drop in if you're visiting the Cemetery or the excellent Botanic Gardens nearby.
